Tasty Book Tours ~ Spotlight on Anything but Sweet by Candis Terry

Today Paranormal Romance and Beyond is please to have Candis Terry here. We're going to learn more about her writing and her latest release, Anything but Sweet. Welcome Candis.

Thanks so much for letting me stop by today!
If I’m a new to you author I write sexy, small town, contemporary romance with a hint of quirky, a lot of heart and soul, and very often, some culinary delights.
When I thought about what would make a good topic to discuss, my first inclination went to fabulous shoes or purses. But that would require a lot of photos, and doing the research I’d probably end up buying something I didn’t need so . . . let’s talk about hot alpha male heroes, shall we? Or at least one in particular.
Reno Wilder—the hero in ANYTHING BUT SWEET—is a former Marine, and a rancher. He also owns the local hardware and feed store, and he’s got some major issues. In writing Reno’s story, I can’t tell you how many times I felt his heroine, Charlotte (Charli) Brooks’ frustration. So, of course, I had to figure out why.
Reno had to acknowledge his fears and weaknesses. And, as an alpha male, he really didn’t think he had any. The problem was he’d lost everything that meant anything to him and it prevented him from moving forward. It stopped him from reaching out and grabbing hold of the happiness that, deep inside, he really wanted. He probably would have moseyed along in life thinking he was doing okay and in full control until love put his true strength to the test and pushed him to his limits. Of course, if you asked him now if the roller coaster ride he took with Charli was worth it, he’d probably flash his dimples and give you a nod of that cowboy hat he looks so darned good in.
Question to you: Who are some of your favorite romance heroes and why do they make your list? And while you’re thinking, here’s a little excerpt from when Reno and Charli from ANYTHING BUT SWEET first bump heads:
Turning on her heel, she headed toward the front door, where her earlier idea burst into full bloom. Behind her, his bootheels came to a halt near the sales counter. She stopped and turned.
“Just so you know,” she said in her most confident voice, “at the reveal meeting tonight in the community hall, I plan to present the big plan. I want to do you first.”
That dark gaze traveled up and down her body like a singles-party cruise.
He was a big strong man. A man’s man. With a no trespassing sign embedded in those dark eyes. Probably burned into his heart as well. She knew the type. Too well. Women loved him, and he knew it. And he’d love them. Then move on.
As his eyes came back up to her face, a smile appeared from within a five o’clock shadow and flashed a deep set of dimples Charli would never have guessed existed. The combination of dark and light on him was magnificent and devastating.
“Well, now, Ms. Brooks, that’s a mighty fine offer,” he drawled. “But I hardly know you. And I’ve never considered myself a one-night-stand kind of guy.”
Of course he didn’t. He was probably more like a half-a-night-stand kind of guy.

A man who doesn’t like change . . .
The Wilder family is something of a Sweet, TX institution: between their yearly BBQ blow-outs and their Hardware and Feed store, they’re an institution—an institution that ex-marine Reno Wilder has tried to preserve, in honor of his lost loved ones. But it seems like he’s the only one who’s got any respect left for traditions when a new TV makeover show rolls in to renovate Sweet to bring in more tourists. Everyone is pleased except Reno—and this cowboy is determined to keep everything just the way he likes it.

A woman who wants to change everything . . .
Inquisitive. Stubborn. Smart. Drop dead gorgeous. That would be makeover show host and designer, Charlotte Brooks—the woman Reno has declared war against. And yet, he can’t seem to keep away from her, or to get her off his mind. Charlotte isn’t afraid to back down from a challenge—of any kind—and she’s promised to prove to Reno that change can be sexy, hot, and very, very sweet, if Reno and Charli learn to let go of their pasts and grab hold of a future full of promise.

  1. How much time do you have to devote to writing?

    1. Hi Yvonne!

I devote a lot of time to writing. When I still worked the day job (just left there about a month ago) I would come home from work and start writing anywhere from 5:00 to 7:00 almost every night. And then I would write until at least 11 pm or midnight every night. And I often wrote on weekends. My schedule hasn't changed much. But it's something that I love to do and I have a fabulously understanding family who doesn't mind frozen pizza for dinner.

  2. Good morning! And thank you for hosting my blog tour!

So . . . on the subject on favorite romance heroes, who are yours?
